Chaplain's Corner

Hopefully, our Lord and Supreme Commandant has blessed you and yours with good health and his blessings! If not, please reach out to me or another member of our detachment for support and any help if needed.

We are a family and a brotherhood and so it is not weakness to reach out for as Marines we have each others backs.

The Lord has recently blessed our detachment with new members who have dedicated themselves to making our detachment better. I would especially like to commend Robert Laughlin for this great new website and I hope we all use it continuously to keep informed on detachment matters and help us continue to grow.

I would also like to thank Pete Samaniego and all the detachment members who showed up and participated sending brother Marshall Hayes to his final duty station!

I would also like to praise James Laurenti for his hard work putting together our events. His work can best be rewarded by our support of these events so please, if you haven't already done so, grab some tickets and fliers for our Texas Roadhouse Drive Through fundraiser scheduled for September 30th.

For many years, Bill Johnson has been a steady presence as Chaplain of Marine Corps League Bill King Detachment 019, offering support, encouragement, and fellowship to Marines, veterans, and their families.

The Chaplain’s role is about far more than offering an invocation at a meeting. It is about being there when a member is sick, when a family is grieving, when someone needs encouragement, or when a Detachment gathers to honor one of its own. It is a role built on service, compassion, remembrance, and the simple willingness to be present when someone needs it.

That spirit is the purpose of this new Chaplain’s Corner.

This section of our website will give Chaplain Bill a place to share messages directly with the Detachment and our community. You may find words of encouragement, reflections, announcements, information about memorial services, recognition of members we have lost, photos and flyers, or simply a timely reminder that no Marine or veteran should feel they are facing a difficult time alone.

Although the Marine Corps League is bound together by our shared connection to the Marine Corps, the Chaplain serves all members and families with care and respect, regardless of individual religious background.

The motto Semper Fidelis means Always Faithful, and few responsibilities reflect that idea better than looking after one another.

We hope Chaplain’s Corner becomes a place for exactly that: support, remembrance, encouragement, and fellowship for the Marines, veterans, families, and friends of Bill King Detachment 019.
