Good morning,

The California State Commander’s Veteran’s Council is doing an advocacy alert for AB 1151, that would eliminate the $5.00 fee for the Veterans Designation on the CA Driver License.

There are links in the attached letter to complete a quick letter of support that will be sent to your local assembly member.

Please forward out to any veterans distribution lists.

Thank you,

Ryan Kegley, County Veterans Services Officer

VA to Vaccinate ALL VETERANS, SPOUSES & MORE

VA SAVE LIVES ACT (Updated April 7, 2021)

On Wednesday, April 7, VA fully implemented the SAVE LIVES Act at VA medical facilities across the country to provide COVID-19  vaccines to all Veterans, their spouses and caregivers, and some beneficiaries.

As of today, VA Palo Alto Health Care System  is offering the COVID-19  vaccine under this authority at its Palo Alto and Livermore divisions to the following groups:

  • All Veterans, regardless of character of discharge (including bad conduct and dishonorable)
  • All National Guardsmen and Reservists from all branches of service, and
  • Spouses and surviving spouses of Veterans
  • Caregivers of Veterans - defined as a family member or friend who provides care to a Veteran.
  • Recipients of CHAMPVA benefits.

Important: This  expanded authority depends on readily available COVID-19 vaccine supply  and requires us to continue to prioritize vaccinations and healthcare  delivery for Veterans enrolled in VA care. All vaccine recipients must  meet CDC age requirements.

How to schedule an appointment

Enrolled Veterans can give the VA a call Monday – Friday, at (650) 496-2535, from  8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to be scheduled for an appointment.
