Marines, family and friends gathered at the Stanislaus County Veterans Center to celebrate the 244th Birthday of our beloved Marine Corps.
This years commemoration of the birthday of our Marine Corps stepped up the traditional ceremonies commencing with members of Detachment 019 posted on deck, traditional birthday addresses by Jerry Sarkovics (Detachment Adjutant) and Manuel Melendez (Master of Ceremonies) followed by posting colors by the Jr. Navy Seals, playing the National Anthem, escorting out the Birthday Cake and the playing of the Commandants Birthday Message.
Michael Anderson Sr. (Honored Guest Speaker) revealed our guests with the inspiring recount of Marine heroism in Iraq - the story of his son Cpl. Michael D. Anderson, Jr.

The Center for the Arts presented the Marine Band's 2019 concert tour at the Atherton Theater, San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA.
This performance of the US Marine Corps, Presidents Own Band tour continued the tradition begun in 1891 under Director John Philip Sousa. This performance was by the same musicians who perform at the White House and ended with a rousing redition of anthems of each Military Organization, with the entire performance capped by "The Marine Corps Hymn".

MCL019 Members, Volunteers and Staff of the Veterans Employment/Stand Down Committee helped stuff Backpacks donated by Backpacks for Life. Generous Veteran Organizations, Private industry including Gallo, AAA, Bombas Sox, Stanislaus County, the Veterans Foundation and many others, joined with individuals from our Community in providing these Essentials needed by our Homeless Veterans for the coming winter.
Our Flyer listed the Essentials needed for our Homeless Veterans, and with few exceptions, each backpack was filled with these items donated at the Drop Box in the lobby of the Veterans Center, or purchased with generous Cash Donations.
This year we also prepared over 25 backpacks with additional specialty items for our Female Veterans thanks to donations from Blue Star Moms.
We plan to distribute all of these Backpacks at our MCL019 PopUp Tent staffed by members of the Marine Corps League, Modesto Detachment #019 at the 4th Annual Veterans Stand Down at Graceada Park on Oct. 31, 2019.

The Fairground gates opened at 8:00am each day for the 154th consecutive Scottish Highland Gathering and Games at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
Members of the Marine Corps League joined in to celebrate the very best of Scottish culture, competition, cuisine and entertainment featuring Archery, British Cars, Birds of Prey, Celtic Heritage, Children Glen, Coos & Clydesdale, Friday Night Concert, Grandstand Show, Heavy Athletic Events, Highland Dancing, Irish Dancing, Kilted Mile Race, Living History, Piping and Drumming, Rugby and Shinty, Sheep Dog Trials, Soccer, Whisky Tasting.

Members of MCL019 supported this years Toys for Tots Car Show of Stanisluas County, hosted by the Marine Corps Reserve.
Nearly 100 CARS COMPETED for AWARDS at this years Show !!
More importantly, multiple Cash Donations, Toys / Bikes were raised for this years Toys for Tots drive !!
2019 Marine West Expo was co-sponsored by the Marine Corps League and held at Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton.
Marine commands sent delegations to this annual exposition showcasing the latest technology and prototypes aimed at preparing today’s Marines for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. This years EXPO included product displays by many commercial vendors seeking feedback from active duty marines to evaluate and recommend opinions on their products. This year featured exhinits of Drone Technology and the latest Assault Amphibious Vehicles planned for testing this spring.
The Marine Corps League was proud to sponsor the Expo at which our National Commandant, Wendell Webb, presented an overview of the Marine Corps League and all of our programs supporting our Marines.
